2015 Cesoni Nosiola $15.47

The Cesoni Family has been making wine for a couple hundred years. The winery is organic and working towards biodynamic, but they won’t compromise on their original goal, to make “tasty wine.” We started a marathon tasting session with the Wilton chapter of SRWC and it was a hit (from what we remember.) Perfect for lunch, the start of an evening, or a dinner with fish. Try it, it’s tasty.

2014 Ollieux Romanis Corbieres Classique Blanc $14.25

Corbieres is a village in the coastal Lanuedoc region of France, near Spain. Since our French pronunciation is so bad, we’re going to call this one “the French one” all summer. Join us. Roussanne and Marsanne grape blends have turned out to be some of our favorite Low Road whites. This one adds a little Grenache.

2016 Vicara Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese DOC $18.75

Club Members Michele and Andrew wanted us to find a red wine that they had in Italy. And guess what? We’d already bought it! We’re so made for each other. Light in color but with bold tannins, Grignolino is the grape, Vicara is the producer, del Monferrato Casalese is the DOC Region. It’s already scored a high spot on our Summertime drinking list. Sarah says to put a chill on it, Jeff stands behind her quietly shaking his head. The Wilton Contingent of SRWC got an advanced peek and couldn’t get enough of it. Alright, in truth, we ran out. After finishing a sample bottle that we brought, they broke into their shipments to open more bottles.

2015 Bluegrey Priorat $15.83

Priorat is one of two main Spanish regions that produce big, red, wines (the other is Rioja – let me know if you need some). It tastes like Spain, but balanced with ripe fruit, good tannins, and a long finish. This affordable wine is perfect for California wine lovers. (Luckily we know a few.)

2015 Perrin Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc $29.26

This excellent Blanc is from one of the most famous French regions. We bought it in January and have been itching to get it in the club. And by itching, obviously I mean drinking it. Glad it’s not gone! Jeff brought a bottle to the local blind-tasting group and it was well received (and preordered.) Serve it confidently alongside any nice Red at home. Or, if you bring it to a friend, make sure it’s chilled. You’re going to want a glass.

2016 Gritsch Mauritiushof Gruner Veltliner, Hochrain Smaragd, Wachau  $28.75

The title (and the wine) is a mouthful. Gritsch Mauritushof is the Producer, Gurner Veltliner is the Grape, Wachau is the region. These guys specialize in single vineyard wines and the Hochrain Smaragd was our favorite because of it’s fantastic fruit, spice and pepper. Drink it with lunch or dinner this Summer.

2011 Macchialupa Taurasi Aglianico $32.50

Aglianico is a bold, tannic, southern Italian grape. To tame it, it needs to be blended with another grape, micro-oxidized to sell young or treat it the old fashion way – give it time. You’ll pay a little more for the winemaker’s patience, but it is worth it. If you remember the Devil Banisher Sagrantino, it’s the same deal with a different grape. Drink it like you would any big, Italian red. Or with big, Italian friends (we’re available!)

2014 Domaine L’espigouette Gigondas $28.75

You can’t describe Gigondas without comparing it to Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wines are both Grenache based, the two regions are only 10 miles away and they generally age well – you can lay this down for a few years. The difference is that this one is a little cheaper – you’re welcome.
